Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program:

You could be eligible for a rebate of up to $650 on the property tax or rent you paid in 2015.  The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) application process for 2015-2016 season opened Mon., Nov. 2.  LIHEAP provides assistance for home heating bills to keep low-income Pennsylvanians warm and safe during the winter months.  It’s available to renters and homeowners.  This grant runs through April 1, 2016.  Paper applications are still available through local county assistance offices.  The sooner you apply the sooner you get your money.

The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians 65 or older, widows and widowers 50 or older, and people with disabilities 18 or older.  The income limit is $35,000 a year for homeowners and $15,000 annually for renters, but HALF of your Social Security income and any cost-of-living adjustments are excluded.

Even if you got a rebate last year, you have to apply for each year’s benefits.
