Moosic Borough Council President Joe Mercatili is retiring after serving more than three decades.   Joe has served on council for 38 years, serving 35 of those years as council president.  During his tenure, Moosic Borough’s budget has gone from $800,000. in 1978 to 3.6 million today.  The community has grown substantially with the development of Montage Mountain, a major golf course, a Visitors Center, Cinemark 20 screen theatre complex and major corporate centers and assorted business.  The attractive tax base in the borough is an added incentive and major benefit.  Mr. Mercatili has served as President of the PA State Association of Boroughs on its Policy and Resolution Committee and as President of the Lackawanna County Association of Boroughs.  His accomplishments go beyond the borough as he reaches out to both the County and State organizations as well.  Mr. Mercatili will remain a councilman with a firm hand and watchful eye.
