PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND USE CAUTION:   snow develops into afternoon. Expect 2-4 inches into dark. Snow will mix with sleet and freezing rain/rain in many locations as night progresses. Tonight/early Friday…mixed precipitation and rain changing back to snow into early Friday morning. Another 3-6 inches is possible, especially in the elevations and northern/eastern counties. Friday…morning snow ends to partial clearing in the afternoon. Temps will rise to near 40 or better, greatly improving road conditions! STAY SAFE!!!!

Agility Road Resurfacing Project:

MOOSIC BOROUGH ROAD RESURFACING PROJECT:
Moosic Borough in conjunction with Penndot Agility program will be resurfacing roads on Tuesday, October 09, 2018. Residents living on Kreig Ave, Grace Ln, School St, Roth St and Wylam Ave. are asked to remove your vehicle(s) from the roadway by 7AM . Once work has begun on the roadway, vehicular traffic will not be permitted back into the roadway until paving project is completed on your street.
Also we will be resurfacing roads on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Residents living on Walnut St, Spruce St., Hudson St, Elm St, Brook St, Montgomery St., George St., Lucas Ct. and Dente Ct. are asked to remove your vehicle(s) from the roadway by 7AM . Once work has begun on the roadway, vehicular traffic will not be permitted back into the roadway until paving project is completed on your street.

Slow Down: Back to School Means Sharing the Road

It’s “Back to School” time.  School buses are back on the roads, and students are walking along the side of the road and waiting for buses.

apple Please watch carefully for children near school buildings, in areas where school buses are traveling or where there are signs for school zones or bus stops.
apple Remember that if you are approaching a school bus from either the front or behind, and it’s yellow lights are flashing, the bus is preparing to stop.
apple If the buses red lights are flashing, YOU MUST STOPIt’s the law!

Roads Impacted by Flooding in Northeastern Pennsylvania

Dunmore, PA – Motorists in Northeastern Pennsylvania are advised that several roads are impacted in the area due to flooding. The following roads are currently closed as of 12 AM.

Lackawanna County

SR 6 in Eynon is closed in the westbound lanes.

SR 590 is closed between Reservoir Rd in Madison Township and Parry Road in Jefferson Township.

Now Open SR 3001 (Newton-Ransom Bld.) is closed in both directions from the intersection of Milwaukee Rd in Ransom to the intersection of Cherry Hill Dr in Ransom

SR 3005 (Main St/ River Rd) is closed in both directions from the intersection of the Luzerne County Line to the intersection of the Wyoming county line.

SR 3006 – (Church Hill Rd/Milwaukee Rd) is closed between Willow Drive and Laurel Hill Rd in Newton Township

SR 3012 (Oak Street) is closed between Keyser Avenue and Main Street in Taylor

SR 3015 (Main Street/Moosic Rd/Oak Street) is closed between SR 11 (Birney Ave) in Moosic and Honey Lane in Old Forge

SR 3019 (Lonesome Road/Spring Street) is closed between Drake Street and Main Street/Bridge Street in Old Forge

SR 3022 (The Central Scranton Expressway) is open. Motorists should use caution when traveling in the area due to rocks and debris on the roadway.

SR 4011 (Turnpike Rd/Old State Road) is closed between State Street in Clarks Summit and Maple St in La Plume.

Upcoming Road Closures:

Moosic Borough is reaching out to our residents and motorists in regards to some upcoming work that Norfolk Southern will be doing on the railroad along Main Street (SR3015). The anticipated date range for this work is July 9-13,2018. The road will need to be closed and traffic will be detoured while work is ongoing.
