Moosic Borough residents will have the opportunity to recycle electronic devices for free during a two-week period in mid-June through a program outlined by the Lackawanna County Commissioners. The program will be in effect from June 15-23, with one television and one computer monitor/accessory per household being accepted.
Thursday, June 15 and June 22, 2017 1st and 3rd wards of Moosic Borough.
Friday, June 16 and June 23. 2017 2nd and 4th wards of Moosic Borough.
This is a great opportunity to discard electronic devices at no cost while protecting our environment.
In observance of this Memorial Day Holiday, the office and Department of Public Works will be closed on May 29, 2017. Garbage and Recycling will be on a one day delay.

Moosic Borough Hometown Heroes Banner Program
The Sons of American Legion Post 604 and the Borough of Moosic have created the Hometown Heroes Banner Program. A living tribute to recognize and honor residents and their family members who are serving, or are veterans who have served our country in the US Armed Forces. Banners will be displayed on street poles (Main Street, Spring Street, Birney Ave. & Rte. 502) throughout the course of two years to celebrate and remind the community of their dedication to our country.
Purpose and Description of Program:
This program was created to pay tribute to the brave men and women of Moosic Borough who are serving, have served, or have given the ultimate sacrifice of life to our country serving in the military.
The Hometown Heroes banners will be displayed from
SEPTEMBER 11, 2017 to the SUMMER of 2019.
- The Hometown Heroes Banners are funded through donations.
- The cost of each banner is $200.00 (including installation and removal)
- After the course of (2) years, the banner will be permanently removed and given to the serviceperson or family member.

Inspired by achievement, Moosic Borough Mayor and Council at it’s regular scheduled meeting held on May 9, 2017, recognized Jeffery Marsico who has achieved the highest award as a Cub Scout, the Arrow-of-light Award. In recognizing this steps in the advancement system of Cub Scouting help’s Jeffery to grow in self-reliance and in his ability to help others in our community so Congratulations is given in achieving this awards. “Best of Luck”
Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting. Moosic Borough Mayor and Council had the privilege to recognize two Moosic residents whom recently earning the honor of Eagle Scout. Michael Talerico and Noah Jennings. Michael whom has undertaken for his Eagle Scout project the restoration of the Mary Ann Nawrocki Park located on Spring St.,and Noah is refurbishing the sign at the newly remodeled police department. Both Scouts were invited to attend the regular scheduled Council meeting held on 05/09/2017 to receive the proper recognition on behalf of the Borough of Moosic, its Mayor and Council. However, Noah was not available, Michael was in attendance to receive his recognition and to lead the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Again on behalf of Moosic Borough Mayor and Council and all the residents of Moosic, Congradulations! Job Well done!
The Borough Office will be closed for business on Tuesday May 16, 2017 for the Primary election, but the doors will remain open for voters registered in Ward 3 to cast their vote.
The Department of Public Works will be on schedule.
