Recycling Electronics:

[UPDATE] April 20, 2015

It is a pleasure to report that the Lackawanna Recycling Center will resume accepting electronic material immediately at no fee from Monday through Friday during the hours of 7 am to 3 pm.

We are sorry for the inconveniences caused by this brief interruption of service and thank you for your input and patience.

As always, I am available to assist you with any questions or comments.

Sharing your relief,

[UPDATE] April 14, 2015

Hello Everyone:

I was notified today that effective immediately the recycling center on Boulevard Avenue will no longer accept electronics of any kind.

Municipal truck and residents have been turned away today.  There was no advance notice.

I contacted Andy Wascura who oversees operation of the recycling center for clarification on the status of electronic recycling.  He stated that he is unsure of when/if they will accept electronics either in the near future or long range.

Contacting some local vendors that have accepted electronics in the past, I have the following information to offer:

  • Best Buy                             570-346-8977                    accepting 3 electronic items/day/customer – no fee

Including:  up to 50” flatscreen TVs; up to32” tube TVs ; laptops, computers and peripherals

  • Elmwood Specialized       570-969-9040                    accepting all electronics except monitors or TVs

  • Staples                                570-342-5138                    accepting 5 electronic items/day/customer except monitors or TVs

  • Target                                 570-383-7100                    accepting cell phones and ink cartridges no other electronics

I know this is the time for Spring Clean Ups in many municipalities.  I promise to keep you updated as I learn anything else on this matter.

Turning you away at the gate is just not something I want to hear happens again.
