WATER MAIN BREAK – River Street in Scranton (MOOSIC AFFECTED) [UPDATED]

[UPDATE] January 30th, 2014: PA American Water will begin draining the pipe at 9:00 pm this evening. Excavation will begin at 2:00 am where they will be able to try to repair the pipe. Estimated time of repair is 12 to 24 hours for the Greenwood section of Moosic. Montage area should have low pressure during the repairs, but they believe they have bypassed that area. [UPDATE] January 30th, 2014: A water tank has arrived at Greenwood Fire Dept . The tank is inside the firehouse and a representative of PAWC is here to assist you. Please come to the side door and knock for help. Please stay tuned to the media for more information.

[UPDATE] January 30th, 2014: PA American Water Company will be shutting the main at approximately noon today. One that occurs parts of Moosic will Lose water. the water will be shut down for a minimum of 3 days. They have requested the help of emergency services to get more water buffaloes.

[UPDATE] January 30th, 2014: If you are among those residents affected by the water break, just a reminder to please keep adequate amount of water in your boiler systems to ensure your heat continues to work.

January 29th, 2014: According to the Pennsylvania American Water Company, there is a break in a 36-inch water main along River Street in Scranton. The problem will affect customers in South Scranton, Keyser Avenue and Keyser Valley, Glenmaura, Montage Mountain, the Greenwood Section of Moosic, the area of Emmitt Street and Meridian Avenue in Scranton, and the Stuffer Industrial Park.

Customers may experience no water, low pressure or cloudy water. Some residents may not lose water at all. If customers experience cloudy or discolored water, run water until it clears before using. This should typically take only a few minutes. The current estimate is that it could be a few days until full water service is restored.

In the event that residents need water, the Pennsylvania American Water Company has dispatched water tankers to Engine 2 Fire House, Gibbons and Pittston avenues in Scranton; Engine 7 Fire House, Luzerne Street, Scranton; Lackawanna Ambulance, 1000 Remington Avenue, Scranton; and Greenwood Hose Company, Birney Avenue, Moosic. Customers should bring their own containers.
